What Should I Put in My Birdcage?
I found this birdcage yesterday at an antique store and fell in love. So lovely and chippy. For less than 15.00, I had to take it home! It's hanging in my bedroom from the ceiling but looks so empty. I have a few dried flowers in it now, but it needs something else. What would you put in this cage? PLEASE give me some ideas!
I'd put a carpet of moss and some minature fairy furniture! Put a battery operated tea light in there somewhere and hang transluscent butterflys from fishing line on the inside.
ReplyDeleteHow about some ribbons hanging and wound around?? Some of those beautiful silk and organza one in different widths?? Maybe some of those glass ornaments filled with dried roses or beads inside??? Hanging inside at different lengths....
ReplyDeleteOr.....a whole bunch of chandelier crystals!! Or little umbrellas, or wooden bird forms that you have papered and arted up!! LIke little bird topiaries, pretty pot and a wooden bird on a stick at different heights inside the cage with your little collage children riding on the birds!! Not sure what your decor is but maybe some of these will work!!
Hi Kris! This is lovely! I think I would create a fabic menagerie of stitched up & embellished birdies full of sparkle. A surrounding of whimsical flowers creating a beautiful sanctuary for the feathered fabric cuties. I can just see it! Have fun finishing it up! Lisa :)
ReplyDeleteWhen my mother died, I inherited her glass bird paperweights. I bought a birdcage and put them in it, along with an electric candle to reflect their colors. I found an antique bluebird Christmas tree ornament (the clip-on-kind) and perched it atop the cage (my bluebird of happiness). It's become quite a conversation piece.
ReplyDeleteI don't have a clue as to what I would put in it but had to tell you that it is gorgeous. wow!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great find for such a good price Kristin! I like Michelle's idea of the carpet of moss, fairy furniture, lights, butterflies, etc. Oh wait! . . .the little collaged children riding on birds sounds cool TOO. Soooooooo many possibilities with this project.
ReplyDeleteLet us see what you come up with when it's completed ok?
I found this same birdcage in a thrift store,in dark green, for $4.00. I know, lucky me!!! I keep mine on the floor (removed the chain)to the right side of our fire place, with a mercury silver ball inside on top of moss, with one of those electric candles with the flame that looks real. I placed a antique white cast iron bird and a large cast Iron Urn filled with ferns next to it. I love how it looks. Bonnie Schulte in WI
